Landscape Color by Number
These are 8 free landscape color by number pages for adults at a medium level with 13 to 17 colors, printable on US Letter or A4, each with a full-color answer key.
What is on these pages
Eight calm scenes in a mosaic style: a mountain sunset over a lake, a full moon above a pine treeline, desert dunes with a mesa and a saguaro, a lighthouse on a cliff, a pine forest with a path, rolling hills with striped fields, the northern lights over snowy peaks and a sailboat at sea. Skies and water are split into shade bands, so the light changes gently from top to bottom.
How color by number works
Each cell holds a number. Find the number in the legend at the bottom of the page, pick a pencil or marker that matches the swatch name, and fill every cell with that number. Work one color at a time, from light to dark, so you do not smudge the lighter areas. The picture appears slowly as the cells fill in. Each page comes with an answer key in full color, so you can check a cell or see the finished picture before you start.
Working on a landscape
Start with the sky and the far hills, then move to the foreground. Gradients are easier when you lay out the shade pencils side by side in legend order. If two neighboring colors look alike, check the answer key before you commit.
Printing tips
Download the PDF in US Letter or A4 and print at 100 percent (actual size), not "fit to page", so the numbers stay crisp. Smooth paper of 90 to 120 gsm (24 to 32 lb) takes colored pencils well. For markers, heavier paper or cardstock stops bleed-through. Keep a spare copy of the line sheet if you want to try a second palette.
