What is in this collection

This set looks at the four-leaf clover as a plant and as a pattern. Each leaf is a heart shape split into sections, so you can color the halves and inner hearts in different tones. You will find single large clovers on long stems, two clovers together, fields of three-leaf and four-leaf clovers with grass, clover mandalas, a clover wreath with a bow, framed samplers with four or six clovers, a medallion and a repeating clover tile.

  • Easy: large clovers and a bold mandala.
  • Medium: a clover field, a wreath and a six-clover sampler.
  • Detailed: a dense field, a fine mandala and a tile pattern.

Paper and tools

Plain printer paper is fine for colored pencils. For markers, use heavier paper, around 32 lb or 120 gsm. Fine-tip pens help on the tile pattern and the samplers.

Palette ideas

Real clover leaves often have a pale band inside a darker green, so try a light green for the inner hearts and a deep green for the outer parts. For a less literal page, use teal, olive and lime together.

A slow-coloring tip

Pick one clover on the page and color it slowly, leaf by leaf. Then match the others to it. Small decisions made once make the rest of the page relaxing.
